They also used it to draw their seed dispersal devices. \r\nStudents were so creative in their designs. It helped to get buy in to draw multiple designs from different angles before they made their prototypes. Unfortunately our custodians were on their A game and erased the boards before I could snap pictures. I did get a few pictures of their brainstorming a pre-unit discussion on what organisms need to be considered living. \r\nI have enjoyed watching students pick from the multiple \"new\" to them colors in the expo pack. Nothing says joy like a middle schooler realizing they can use two different greens for plants. We have some great artists in our class and it shows when they get to use the boards for work. Through this project we have been able to have a space for station work where students can design and draw ideas as well as organize their thoughts. We use our movable white boards every day. they have become our birthday board, welcome board, reminder board, calming center drawing center and room divider. They help us to have a space to write notes to each other and other classes so projects and station work can carry over from one class to another. \r\nThe boards have exceeded my expectations in how much they have helped me to create a carved out space in a big rectangle room. \r\nMy Students favorite use has been as the calming corner. When we don't need it for our sensory calming space for a student it folds up nicely. When we do need it it allows students who are having anxiety, a bad day or need space away from others to stay in our learning environment and hear what is going on without losing their cool. Then when they are ready they just fold it up and head back to their seat. But not before they draw/write beautiful inciteful images and words that remind me they are typical middle schoolers. Middle schoolers who deserve spaces and resources likes the ones you helped me to provide. \r\nThank you again to our donors and Out Front Charitable Fund for doubling our donations.","fullyFundedDate":1755957375731,"projectUrl":"project/station-work-and-calming-corner/9555315/","projectTitle":"Station Work and Calming Corner","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Cashman","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp3785641_orig.jpg?crop=1682,1682,x370,y1188&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1690766479002","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/3785641"},{"teacherId":3785641,"projectId":9554763,"letterContent":"This has been an incredible start to the school year! A large part of our beginning success is because of donors like you. Knowing that our community has been contributing to our new spaces helps to keep us all motivated when we have so much to do to set up a safe, clean and organized space. It has taken time but we now have a space that functions well for students and that they can help keep organized. \r\nEvery product purchased through this project has been used. The student favorite was a replacement item due to other items being out of stock. The student use the magnetic hooks for everything. They help keep items off the floor and are great for hanging our lost and found papers and items students leave behind. We even made a spot on the new white boards for lost and found items. No more \"where is my...\". Our charging station is great for students who have dead devices. They know exactly where to go to get their devices charged and I can easily see if they leave it behind before they head out the door. Our teacher desks are just tables so the cable management tray and power strip with clamp keep the cords tucked in so students no longer get caught up in cords when they come up for help. \r\nMy favorite part of this project was the tennis balls for the chairs. They arrived about two weeks into the school year. They reduced noise during transitions (keeping the calm vibe we were going for in the class) and make it easier for us to put chairs up without scratching our new tables. \r\nStudents have been doing a great job helping to do quick sweeps after our projects. The room is easy to keep clean thanks to our new products. \r\nThese supplies along with another sensory calming project have helped students to feel a sense of pride and belonging in our science classroom. \r\nOut Front Charitable Fund was instrumental in this and other projects funded. Thanks to them and donors like you my students and I feel supported and have been able to establish routines that will help us keep a safe clean and organized room during the 2025/2026 school year. Your generous donation made the Decades Unit memorable for 7th grade students at Brooklyn Middle STEAM School. Your contribution truly made a difference in bringing history to life in a sweet way!\r\n\r\nAfter their first day immersing themselves in the 1950s, students were eager to discover the next day's featured treat. Many enjoyed guessing which candy would be introduced next and shared their own \"reviews\" of which decade had the best candy. Along the way, they learned fun facts, such as that Starbursts were originally called \"Opal Fruits\" and that Sour Patch Kids (a clear favorite) were inspired by the Cabbage Patch Kids dolls popular in the 1980s and 1990s.\r\n\r\nAs students toured each decade, they not only sampled candy but also took notes on historical events and popular culture, tried on clothing trends, played games, and listened to music representative of each era. This hands-on experience allowed them to connect with the past in a meaningful and engaging way.\r\n\r\nWithout your contribution, this tradition would have not been possible this year due to a freezing of district funds this spring.
