We have already used the popsicle sticks in at STEAM project, along with reading Chicka Chicka Boom Boom, to see if we could create coconut trees to hold letter beads. We have also used the dot paint makers to decorate the first letter of our names to hang up in our classroom. Another materials that we have used is the poms poms. I mixed them with a smaller set to fill our sensory table. My students have been busy scooping, sorting, and creating with them every day. \r\nThe other materials in this kit will be used in so many ways throughout the school year. We will teach students how to use the different tape so they can use them in our open ended art center. The papers, yarns, and beads will be used in many projects this year as well from self-portraits to collage work. \r\nArt exploration is so important and I am thrilled to be able to share these art materials with my class this year! Starting the school year with these new MagnaTile sets and the rolling cart has been awesome. The cart is working even better than I expected. It holds the magnet tiles perfectly and the size is great for my students to wheel around as needed. They learned so quickly how to clean up the tiles and store them on the cart at the end of the day and help each other push the cart to its parking spot until we use them again. It is one of my favorite things in my classroom right now!\r\nThese tiles are so great for bringing students together to build and create as a team. My students are building friendships while using these tiles to create buildings and towers, race tracks, cities, and zoos. My students have been using all of the resources funded by you! My students really appreciate having snacks available, especially on Fun Fridays. Having access to a snack has helped improve their focus and engagement in my lessons. Additionally, the sensory materials, such as the fidgets and wiggle cushion have helped many of my students regulated their sensory systems during lessons. One example of this was when one of my 2nd graders saw that I had a new wiggle cushion and asked if she could use it because it \"helps her body to move\" when she's learning. I was impressed with her self-awareness and her ability to advocate for herself. The dinosaur, car and puppet toys have been a huge his in my classroom as well. My kindergarteners love the puppet and like to take turns \"feeding\" the puppet toy food while practicing their speech and language skills. I have one student in particular who loves the dinosaurs and can name almost all of them! My plan for this school year is to develop sensory tool visuals so that students who have difficulty communicating their wants and needs can request sensory supports that would support their learning. When my co-worker needs to use them we just unplug from the wall and she can take the cart to her room and return it when done. Without the hassle of unplugging and replugging it back in it saves so much time that we can put into students.
