So many students entered the room with a look of intrigue and surprise for the wonderful selection we have of graphic novels that are usually always checked out of the media center or have extremely long waiting lists. I heard lots of murmurs of \"Oh, you have the new ones!\" when students were browsing through our Baby-Sitters Club books. \r\n\r\nWe have a new checkout system where students who come to us for small-group interventions can bring home a book to read so that they have something fun to practice with. It has really helped students not to be as scared or shy when arriving to our interventions. Many students have already checked out and returned multiple books this year, and they really take their time selecting their next independent reading novel that they get to take home! \r\n\r\nThank you so very much for your support of my classroom as our reading team has transitioned into a new role in the building where we are able to individually support more students with intensive reading interventions. It means the world to me, and makes our students very happy to have something good to read after our short, intensive lessons together.","fullyFundedDate":1749150703077,"projectUrl":"project/wings-of-fire-and-baby-sitters-club-refr/9152940/","projectTitle":"Wings of Fire and Baby-Sitters Club Refresh","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Callahan","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/272x272/tp3134364_272x272.jpg?width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1454027776765","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/literacyprojects"},{"teacherId":3134364,"projectId":9155749,"letterContent":"Now that we are in a new combined intervention classroom, I have even more exposure to more reading students. It has been really nice to have multiple copies of the new books so everyone gets a chance to check them out and read them.\r\n\r\nThank you again for restocking some of our students' favorite books! Since our classes are intense and fast-paced, it is important not to waste time worrying about a pencil and to dive into the instruction right away. Much of our work is auditory processing and sounding out phonics, but we also pause to do word work and circle different vowel groups as well as identifying separate prefixes and suffixes of certain words. \r\n\r\nIt has been such a blessing for us to be able to have pencils on hand to stock our bins so students don't ever have to worry about bringing or sharpening a pencil. It is a big relief, and allows for more equity for us as a group. Since there is an abundance of pencils, I can also let students bring the pencils with them if they need a writing utensil for the rest of the day. \r\n\r\nYou have truly impacted our learning by donating to this project, and I thank you from the bottom of my heart. Kids were so shocked and engaged in their learning. Thank you for providing them that opportunity to listen and engage with new perspectives. \r\n\r\nMy English Language Learners and struggling readers have also been readily using these headphones in math class. They are gaining confidence in their math skills, by listening to the question aloud. Thank you for providing them the opportunity to feel confident in their math abilities by removing the barrier of reading. \r\n\r\nI am so grateful for your kindness and support. This allowed space for our new books and I was able to set up an organization system where each series has its own spot where the books belong. This way books can be put back without making a mess and everything looks orderly and fresh on our bookshelves.\r\n\r\nChoice reading time is really important to our classroom. We begin the first 10 minutes of our class period with quiet choice reading time where students select a book of their choice and either read on their own or with a buddy who is also reading the same book. This allows students to have voice and choice in how they read and allows them to really develop into independent readers who learn to love reading. \r\n\r\nThe best and highest-interest books are always in demand and now that I have multiple copies of these books everyone can read the book they want even if it is at the same time. These devices help my students engage with interactive language-learning apps, listen to instructional materials, and practice their speaking skills by recording and hearing themselves. Listening, speaking, and receiving feedback are crucial for improving pronunciation and fluency.\r\n\r\nWhat excites my students the most about this technology is the opportunity to work at their own pace, confidently developing their English skills without the fear of making mistakes in front of their peers. Many of my students come from diverse backgrounds, and adjusting to a new language and culture can be overwhelming. These headphones create a personalized learning environment where they can focus, practice, and build their confidence in speaking English.\r\n\r\nAlready, I've seen students who were previously hesitant to speak in class embrace this technology. One student, who was very shy about her pronunciation, now records herself daily, listening back and making adjustments to improve her fluency. Another student, who struggled with understanding spoken English, uses the headphones to replay lessons and practice comprehension strategies, showing significant progress.\r\n\r\nThis project will also support students in successfully completing the ACCESS test by ensuring they have individualized, classroom-based tools for practicing listening and speaking. By providing these resources, I am ensuring my students have the best opportunity to thrive academically and socially. In my classroom, I incorporate board games as a fun, interactive tool to practice communication, turn-taking, and strategic thinking. By engaging in these activities, students are encouraged to use English in a natural, conversational context. They discuss rules, negotiate turns, and solve problems together, all while building their vocabulary and fluency. This hands-on approach not only makes language learning enjoyable but also provides a low-stress environment where students feel safe to experiment with new words and expressions!!!\r\n\r\nThe response from my students has been overwhelmingly positive. They are more confident when speaking in English, and I've observed marked improvements in their ability to express ideas clearly and respectfully. The board games foster teamwork and build a sense of community, allowing students to develop both their social and academic language skills. Their active engagement during these activities has translated into better participation in class discussions and increased collaboration among peers.","fullyFundedDate":1739215401983,"projectUrl":"project/games-build-social-language-and-skills-f/9001985/","projectTitle":"Games Build Social Language and Skills for Multilingual Students!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Jaquette","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9649559_orig.jpg?crop=647,647,x94,y325&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1755323985504","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9649559"},{"teacherId":9649559,"projectId":9026871,"letterContent":"Thank You for Supporting Our Classroom!\r\n\r\nThank you for your generous donation of Clorox wipes!
