My students are using the dramatic-play materials during structured learning, independent skills time, and social play. They have enjoyed dressing dolls and characters, preparing pretend meals, sorting clothing and accessories, and creating their own play scenarios. While having fun, they also practice communication, making choices, taking turns, problem-solving, fine-motor skills, and interacting with their peers. When the students first saw the materials, they were so excited and immediately wanted to explore everything!\r\n\r\nThe storage and organizational materials have also made a huge difference in our classroom. We are now able to organize similar materials together, keep small pieces from getting lost, and easily find and rotate activities based on our students' individual needs and interests. Having clearly organized materials also helps teach our students independence and responsibility as they learn where items belong, how to choose materials, and how to help clean up and return them when they are finished. In a special education classroom where students are working at many different developmental and academic levels, having accessible and organized resources allows us to spend more time learning and less time searching for what we need.\r\n\r\nOur next step is to continue using these resources intentionally to build communication, social-emotional, functional life, academic, and independence skills. We will introduce different dramatic-play themes and use the materials to practice vocabulary, following directions, sorting, matching, counting, cooperative play, and everyday life experiences. Each student can participate at their own level, whether that means using a complete sentence with a peer, making a choice, matching an item, taking a turn, or simply remaining engaged in an activity. Our $1800 ukulele collection was at risk of being damaged and becoming unusable because our storage boxes were falling apart. The kids love it! I wish I had gotten a picture of their faces when they walked in and saw the colorful boxes for the first time. Their jaws dropped. Your generous donation of tape and glue allowed our students to create AMAZING collaborative projects! During our cardboard carnival, students created games such as bean bag toss (where they could use the new bean bags), car launch, and even a toy crane machine! \r\n\r\nFourth grade students also used these supplies to complete their dioramas featuring animals in their habitats for our special parent day coming up. You have enabled our students to feel strong pride in their work. \r\n\r\nWe have been able to provide snacks to the students who otherwise have to go without plus we have kept the germs at bay with the hand sanitizer and tissues. Students have felt more seen and supported through the implementation of the sticker program. Our student survey data from early in the year showed that students did not feel that positive behavior was recognized much. I have several students who have anxiety and use these materials to find a calm feeling within themselves. At times, when a day becomes overwhelming they will go and take an animal and sit at their seat. The animal makes them feel at ease. The students can then work through their day without drawing attention to themselves. These animals have also been perfect for when a student comes into school that had a bad morning before coming to school. These animals make them feel so much better. One of the most memorable moments was during a math workshop when students used the new manipulatives to model two-digit addition with regrouping. A student who had been struggling finally lit up when she realized she could see and touch the math—something that wasn't possible with our limited supplies before. The room buzzed with excitement as groups collaborated, checked each other's work, and proudly explained their thinking.\r\n\r\nStudents' first reactions\r\nWhen the materials arrived, the students could hardly contain their excitement. Many of them gasped, clapped, or asked, \"Are these really for us?\" They explored everything with wide eyes and big smiles, eager to try each new item. Several said it felt like \"a whole new classroom.\"\r\n\r\nWhat's next for us\r\nRight now, we are working on strengthening both reading and math foundations.
