Nature is restorative. Nature has health benefits and there is plenty of brain research to prove it! After a full school year of virtual learning during a global pandemic, it is time for me to think mindfully about the way in which I fill my classroom space. The goal of my project is to bring aspects of nature into my classroom in order to alleviate the anxiety and stress that many of my students bring with them to school each day. These aspects of nature will include some plants, some soft lighting in comparison to fluorescent lights, as well as a miniature waterfall. The neighborhood in which my students live has very little nature to speak of. Instead, there is a lot of concrete and asphalt. With limiting resources to experience the great outdoors, my hope is to bring some of the curative aspects of nature into my classroom! Thank you so much for considering making a contribution.
