The standing desks quickly became a favorite. I even brought in stools from home that were the perfect height, and my students are now helping create a schedule so everyone gets a fair turn. They ask to use the floor seats every day, too! Seeing how comfortable and engaged they are has me working on a dedicated floor workspace where they can spread out and still see the board.\r\n\r\nOne of my favorite moments happened during our first rainy indoor recess when we opened the magnetic tiles. The excitement was immediate! Several students shared that they hadn't gotten to build with them in a long time. Before long, they were challenging each other to build the tallest tower and, of course, having just as much fun knocking them down! Our new dry erase markers are also getting plenty of use during reading and math. They give students a quick way to practice, share their thinking, and work through mistakes without worrying about getting everything right the first time.\r\n\r\nThese materials are already becoming classroom favorites! My students are finding comfortable places to work, practicing with their dry erase markers, and enjoying time building together during indoor recess. I love that they are helping decide how we share the seating so everyone gets a turn. Thank you for supporting my fifth graders and giving us materials that bring both learning and fun into our day. We appreciate you! Thank you for helping give my fifth graders a space where they can feel comfortable, make choices, and enjoy learning together!","fullyFundedDate":1780921814486,"projectUrl":"project/student-centered-seating/10253748/","projectTitle":"Student-centered Seating","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. Lemere","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-10_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10490819"},{"teacherId":8056535,"projectId":6211734,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for helping bring these new books into our classroom! Because of your generosity, my students now have access to engaging, high-quality texts that allow them to strengthen important reading skills, including identifying themes, making inferences, using evidence to support their thinking, learning new vocabulary, and discussing different characters and perspectives. These books have helped make those skills feel more meaningful because students can practice them with stories they are genuinely excited to read.\r\n\r\nReading is an important part of our daily classroom routine. Students have opportunities to read independently, read and discuss texts with classmates, and share recommendations with one another. The new books have helped create more excitement around reading and have given students a wider range of topics, genres, and reading levels from which to choose.\r\n\r\nIt has been especially rewarding to see students who once had difficulty finding a book they enjoyed become more motivated and confident readers. Many students are eager to talk about what they are reading, recommend books to friends, and search for their next book. Your support has helped us build not only stronger reading skills, but also a classroom community where books are valued and students can begin to see themselves as readers.
