It is a special day. Students get to bring in stuffed animals and have the opportunity to play educational games with others in their pod (usually four people). While I was successful in locating and purchasing reading workshop activities, I had been unable to locate meaningful grammar activities for my students, which left me to print, laminate, cut out and create all the materials myself. My students have enjoyed them, but writing workshop needed a facelift. Your donation made this possible. My students are over the moon with excitement about the 6 new games that are in their rotation! Statements of \"this is so much fun\" was resonating throughout our room. These fresh, non-wrinkled games really made them feel special. This means that I see my 3rd graders for direction instruction one day and then the next they have to work on independent math activites and vice versa for my fourth grade. Over the years, I have tried a variety of activities to implement in my classroom to ensure that the learning time that is not spent with me is meaningful. This has included me creating my own games by hand that have never won the kind of excitement and interest that I hoped for when it came to their learning and involvement. The opportuntiy to purchase games that directly correlate to what is being taught in class, that is easy to learn, and that the kids find incredibly engaging has breathed new life into my program, especially since my students are with me for two full years of their elementary education. Seeing them gleefully head to our math stations and make positive comments about how much they enjoy the games has really made my heart soar. I cannot thank you enough.
