My students cheer when it is time for me to meet with them, and get upset if I don't see their group every day (even sometimes when they don't have homework!), I cannot thank you enough!\r\n\r\nThese books have been used daily since receiving them, and the students love these stories. These stories have caught the interest of ALL students, no matter their reading level. With the phonics books, my students have been able to read AND answer questions about characters and plot. With the chapter books, my students have really grasped summaries and the main idea of each chapter. They get so excited to read and find out whats next! \r\n\r\nSeeing how excited they got to meet and read together, made me so happy and made everyone work to a higher level! They got to be challenged in a way that was engaging and meaningful to them. My students love to do the hands on investigations and experiments we do for science. My district currently does not have a science textbook so I often struggle to find passages that explain the content behind the investigations. \r\n\r\nThis resources in wonderful. It provides passages that are challenging, but not too long. They are all about a page long. Well developed questions accompany each passage which I love. I can use this resource to teach science content and for a reading comprehension grade. My students really love that each passage is also accompanied by a short video. Each video is approximately 3 minutes. They absolutely love the videos. We have been able to do so many art projects in the class. My students were so excited to complete our first project. For the first time ever, I was able to begin the year with an assignment that really got their creativity following. Students painted rocks with images that were important to them. They were then able to introduce themselves using the rock. That is just one of my creative assignments that we have been able to complete so far this year. \r\n\r\nThe materials you donated are exceptionally helpful with my newcomer students. These students speak a variety of languages. One thing that is universal in this world is art. Often times in the beginning of the year the only way to communicate is using a translation app. These supplies have allowed us to communicate through art. It has brought a new happiness and understanding to me room.
