The wobble stools have quickly become one of the most loved parts of our room. We use them during small group instruction, independent reading, and even during whole group lessons when students need a little extra movement to stay engaged. One moment that stood out was during a math lesson. A student who typically struggles to sit still was able to stay focused the entire time while gently moving on the stool. He completed his work with confidence and even volunteered to share his thinking.\r\n\r\nWhen the stools first arrived, the excitement was immediate. Students were curious, eager, and full of questions. After we talked about how to use them safely and respectfully, they took turns trying them out. It didn't take long for them to realize how helpful they are. Many students have shared that the stools help them \"get their wiggles out\" so they can concentrate better. I've already seen a difference in focus, especially for students who benefit from movement.\r\n\r\nAs we move forward, the wobble stools will continue to support our daily learning. We are working on building stamina during reading and writing, and these stools are helping students stay engaged for longer periods of time. They are also becoming a regular part of our flexible seating options, allowing students to choose what works best for their bodies and learning styles. Your generosity has made a real impact, and my students are benefiting from it every single day.","fullyFundedDate":1778286303583,"projectUrl":"project/wiggle-while-you-work/10192771/","projectTitle":"Wiggle While You Work","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Van Etten","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp5083113_orig.jpg?crop=803,804,x0,y75&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1776962010467","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/5083113"},{"teacherId":3561980,"projectId":9388526,"letterContent":"These blocks are perfect for our UFLI activities! The students have a chance to be part of the word! They get excited when it is UFLI time just to see if it is one of the days we will be using them. They are also fun for letter sound review.\r\n\r\n The fact the blocks popped out caught their attention right away. The moment they saw the letters on them they started shouting out \"that has a m on it!!\" They absolutely wanted to touch and use them right away!\r\n\r\n We love learning about our letters and sounds and working towards reading. Currently I have a couple projects that have a literacy focus around creating a literacy corner and a calm down corner, where friends who need a break can take one. The shrieks of joy were something I won't forget. \r\n\r\n- The magnetic blocks have been a huge hit! Combining their love of a popular video game with real world building. The collaboration between students has been so cool to watch! Their planning, cooperation, and execution of all their walls, buildings, castles, and towers has shown me just how capable they are when given the right tools. They are so motivated to try new things because these blocks seem familiar.\r\n\r\n- All of the students enjoy the wooden doll house people. They reenact stories from home and create all new stories. The elderly dolls often get played with the most and they do an adorable elderly person voice. \r\n\r\n- We use the play dough every day. Their fine motor skills are very low this year and I have already seen such improvement. From opening/closing their play dough themselves to creating intricate pretend food items.\r\n\r\nI am overflowing with appreciation for your generosity. This is just a small part of what I have been able to do with the materials provided and the impact is already evident. A majority of my class did not attend preschool and they came in completely unaware of many basic routines and procedures. Being able to quickly and accurately model exactly what I want them to do when writing, drawing, or using new materials has been instrumental to their current success. I am amazed at how quickly they were able to get into the swing of things!\r\n\r\nI have never been able to start working on scissor skills this early in the year because my previous classes couldn't see how I was holding them. The clarity of this camera is so cool! It works right away and I don't have to do any fiddling with it. This has cut down on downtime where kids are waiting for instructions. \r\n\r\nI have also been able to start early chapter books with them. Developing concepts of main idea, main characters, and working memory to recall what we read about the day before. They are loving it! Usually I have a hard time with early chapter books because they whole class cannot see the pictures due to their small size. Again the document camera solves so much of this.\r\n\r\nThank you again for your donation.
