Instantly, every single student in my class' faces lit up with pure joy and many of them asked \"Is that our rug?\" when responding \"Yes, it's ours\", they all cheered with joy and were jumping up and down. It was such a heart warming interaction that I will never forget because of the pure excitement that was from kids who sometimes think they're too cool for school. It's become a staple in our classroom and makes it significantly more welcoming for every student that visits my room. \r\n\r\nAs a teacher that focuses on on nature and bringing kids into nature, the rug that we received is perfect to move kids into nature. They spend 8 hours a day in my room and it creates a comfortable way for kids to recognize the impact that we have on our world and the way we interact with it. Having something that just represents nature has shown my students how important our impact on the world and what we can do to make things better. They continually ask me if things can be recycled, what we can do to help our community and surrounding area, and how to lessen their impact to keep the Earth healthy. In simple terms, the rug has become a safe and comfortable place for kids to ground themselves when things become hard. \r\n\r\nThank you for making this project come true and for your generous donation. Something as simple as a rug has become the epicenter of comfortability and kindness in my classroom. Day in and day out students ask to move to the rug to help keep them calm, grounded, and focused. It's where we start our days, visit throughout, and end them. It truly has become a place of life and love, and hopefully something the students will remember years from now.","fullyFundedDate":1760103661948,"projectUrl":"project/tree-of-life-and-love-rug/9804202/","projectTitle":"Tree of Life and Love Rug","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Lenard","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp10000912_orig.jpg?crop=394,394,x187,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1749142794431","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10000912"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_106181","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":527,"numTeachers":29,"percentFrplEligible":65,"percentAsian":1,"percentBlack":2,"percentWhite":81,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":9,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"4 - 6","studentTeacherRatio":"18.2:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"TOWN","ncesMetroType":"TOWN_FRINGE"},"inStateSupporters":78.4,"schoolId":106181,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Charlotte Upper Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Charlotte Upper Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/michigan/charlotte-public-school-district/charlotte-upper-elementary-school/106181"}
