We were beyond EXCITED to be able to cook in the classroom. Since we don't have our own resources this has been an incredible opportunity. We're able to cook when we have the time. Due to scheduling issues sometimes the kitchen hasn't always been available. \r\n\r\nWe got super excited when we got a delivered by date. In anticipation of our air fryers we compiled a list of air fryer recipes we wanted to try out in class. We've created a new process for cooking that involves all aspects of picking out foods and preparing them. \r\n\r\nAs a class we vote on 1 or 2 recipes to make. Students then take the list and use Kroger Click List to select the needed ingredients. We look at the amounts needed to make one or two batches of the recipe and then find the best value. Once we find the best value we add to cart. We also check what seasonings are needed and check our small stash of available seasonings. Always checking to make sure we have enough. Once all ingredients have been added to cart I purchase the goods for pick up.\r\n\r\nOn cooking days we start out with washing the tables and our hands. Students are divided into two groups. Each group get a recipe and then it's up to them to gather the ingredients from the main table. Students are observed while they go through reading the steps and then carrying out the snacks. We've tried some recipes that are definite repeats while others it was a one and done!\r\n\r\nWe are so thankful for this opportunity!","fullyFundedDate":1769191963484,"projectUrl":"project/independent-living-skills-cooking/9993530/","projectTitle":"Independent Living Skills: Cooking","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. MacFarland","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp2730120_orig.png?crop=640,640,x0,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1763994588742","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/2730120"},{"teacherId":9578843,"projectId":9893945,"letterContent":"Thank you so much again for your donation. The funding for this project has allowed me to incorporate more hands on activities in my classroom, enhancing my daily lessons. With the addition of individual white boards and more whiteboard space on the wall, my students are able to actively engage in more activities instead of passively sitting at a table copying down notes. \r\nMy students were excited when I first introduced these items and this enthusiasm has continued to grow as they use the white boards for review work, group work and a non-permanent space to work out math problems. \r\nI plan to continue this work with vertical white board activities that will incorporate small group work and open ended, inclusive questions. I am hoping this will help build confidence in my students, allowing them to feel comfortable taking risks in my classroom and developing skills to work collaboratively as well.","fullyFundedDate":1763595786157,"projectUrl":"project/vertical-white-boards-to-promote-critica/9893945/","projectTitle":"Vertical White Boards to Promote Critical Thinkers in Math","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Smale","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-2_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9578843"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_70941","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":646,"numTeachers":38,"percentFrplEligible":95,"percentAsian":15,"percentBlack":34,"percentWhite":38,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":3,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"9 - 12","studentTeacherRatio":"17.0:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"SUBURBAN","ncesMetroType":"SUBURB_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":68.7,"schoolId":70941,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Center Line High School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Center Line High School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/michigan/center-line-public-school-district/center-line-high-school/70941"}
