We have been studying the glass blowing art of Dale Chihuly. Students are using colored transparencies, water bottles, permanent markers and pipe cleaners to create Chihuly-esque chandelier sun catchers. As you may be able to guess, teaching Chihuly is a challenge due to having appropriate and safe materials for students' ages.\r\nWhen students saw all the materials that were collected for their project they were surprised and excited. Because of the breadth of materials collected, each student is allowed to dream big and create a large piece, expressing their own views on Chihuly's color, pattern and design in art-making. The permanent markers that were donated have gone a long way in adding extra color, depth, dimension and individual character to each piece. \r\nThank you so much for being a part of this challenging and exciting project!
