My kindergarten students love being read to, and they are always excited when they see a new book waiting for us. Many of these books quickly became favorites that the children ask to hear again.\r\n\r\nWe have been able to use the books in many different ways. Some connect directly to what we are learning about in science, including trees, seasons, weather, and the natural world. Others are funny stories that give us a chance to enjoy reading together. During our read-alouds, we work on making predictions, answering questions, learning new vocabulary, and retelling stories. The children also spend a lot of time looking closely at the illustrations and talking about what they notice.\r\n\r\nI especially enjoy seeing students choose these books again during the school day. They often sit with a friend and look through a book we have already read together, retelling the story from the pictures or talking about their favorite parts. It is wonderful to see a book continue to interest them even after our read-aloud is over. Thank you for giving my students so many new books to learn from and enjoy. Every time we added some new titles to the shelves, the children would rush over to pick out something new. Since we had multiple titles of some books, children were able to meet in groups and share adventures. It became such a fun part of our routine.\r\n\r\nWe added the other titles to our read aloud rotation. It made our pre-Rest Time story sharing fun and new. We were able to visit some of our favorite characters and make new ones.
