This is my first experience using Donors Choose to obtain materials for my classroom, and I was blown away with the generosity of strangers.\r\n\r\nOne resource we put into place immediately, are our collection of Boomwhacker tubes. This pitched percussion instruments are a fabulous tool to work on beat sense, learning solfege (Do, Re, Mi), following color-coded notation, and working collaboratively to make music. Beyond that, they are just fun to use, and are a frequently requested activity.\r\n\r\nWhile not quite as exciting or unique as Boomwhackers, having a compliment of whiteboards and markers has expanded how we can engage in writing music, practicing drawing musical notes and symbols, and how I lead the children in ear training. We received the curriculum and materials from the social thinking curriculum at the end of the last school year. We have been looking forward to using the curriculum since we got it.\r\n\r\nThis year, we will be reading different books about the unthinkable, such as Glass Man, and learning how to be a superflex kid. We are excited and looking forward to playing the board games.
