Part of being able to manage big feelings for students is allowing them to move in different ways, where all they have to focus on is how they are moving. A sensory path will help students to do this. When students are upset, excited, wiggly, angry, anxious, etc. often movement will help these students to reregulate. A sensory path helps the students to move in a fun and exciting way. When students are feeling the different feelings mentioned above often they get a surge of extra energy. An inviting sensory path will allow students to appropriately move and get rid of some of the excess energy.
Help my students take a walk in space during their day, so they get a chance to reset and de-stress. With the items in the cart such as the bridge to space, students can walk into another dimension when they begin the path. The planets will allow the students to be able to hop from one planet to the next. Floor tape and arrows will give the students a sensory direction while traveling along the path. The handprints will allow the students to do different movements along their journey.
The other space stickers will help direct their way. The letters will help to tell the students where to start and stop. When to hop or crawl. This will be a space walk to remember. Not only can this path benefit my students and can also help many other students in the school. Students from all over the school could come and use the path as needed. Please help us to provide the best opportunities for our students to learn and grow.
