One of our favorite moments is watching students independently add their own artwork to the drying rack. They proudly place finished art projects, paint-dobber worksheets and even artwork created on the easel, which builds both independence and confidence. The light table has also been a huge hit! One student in particular who often has a difficult time coming into the classroom in the morning has found comfort there. Many days, we are able to support a smoother transition by inviting them to begin their day exploring materials at the light table as a calm and engaging soft start.\r\n\r\nWhen the kiddos first saw the new materials, their excitement was contagious! Many had never seen a light table before and their reaction said it all! They had big smiles, were jumping up and down and their happy squeals filled the room!! They were eager to explore and couldn't wait to touch and interact with the materials.\r\n\r\nNext, students will continue using these resources to support hands-on learning across content areas. We plan to expand light table activities into fine motor, sensory exploration and early literacy and math experiences. These materials will continue to play an important role in building engagement, confidence and joyful learning in our classroom.","fullyFundedDate":1767060318140,"projectUrl":"project/where-art-meets-exploration-supporting/9962700/","projectTitle":"Where Art Meets Exploration: Supporting Play-Based Learning","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Grover","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp10055649_orig.jpg?crop=3594,3594,x0,y143&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1751060404319","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10055649"},{"teacherId":9493267,"projectId":8388678,"letterContent":"In the 2024-2025 school year our kindergarten through fifth grade students experienced keyboarding (playing the piano) thanks to your help with our Donors Choose Grant! The keyboards we purchased had colored keys. This was an amazing scaffold for our students. We color coded our sheet music to match the keyboards and this supported the students as they learned hand positions, note names, and music reading skills. \r\n\r\nKindergarten and first grade students got to explore as well as play using the notes they have learned to read on the music staff (so and mi for kindergarten, so, mi, and la for first grade). Second graders learned do, re, mi songs as well as making up their own. Third graders learned to use the letter names of the lines and space to play songs with up to six pitches, including shifting their hand instead of just leaving it in one spot. Fourth and fifth graders went all in, learning how to use both hands together to play a bass line and melody at the same time! \r\n\r\nKeyboards also appeared during \"choice time\" or \"early finisher time\" and were a popular pick. Thank you so much for supporting the students' interest in keyboarding. We are so proud of what they learned and how this project supported both student growth and high engagement!","fullyFundedDate":1723477034261,"projectUrl":"project/keyboards-for-the-whole-music-class-y/8388678/","projectTitle":"Keyboards for the Whole Music Class? It particularly benefits our students with ADHD, ASD and SD, but even typical children love it. \r\n\r\nThis is not something we could have funded without DonorsChoose.
