It is very hard to fund food for the kids all year round. With this contribution, it took a weight off of my shoulders to fund food for the kids.\r\n\r\nMany children only receive food from the school and are search for snacks daily. When they are constantly hungry, their ability to learn is hindered. Trying to teach hungry children is extremely challenging and I know that I am not always reaching the children's full potential when they have a lack of focus. \r\n\r\nTeachers around the US are personally funding snacks for kids out of the kindness of their hearts. Your contribution to this project really helps take the burden off. \r\n\r\nThanks so much!","fullyFundedDate":1701185701852,"projectUrl":"project/the-kids-are-hungry/7954507/","projectTitle":"The Kids are Hungry!","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Channell","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp4998598_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1673317208407","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/mrs-channell-mhs"},{"teacherId":4998598,"projectId":9027552,"letterContent":"The incorporation of sand trays, writing boards and headphones in my high school foundational reading class has significantly enhanced students' ability to access a multisensory curriculum. Sand trays allow learners to physically trace letters and words, engaging tactile and kinesthetic senses to reinforce letter-sound correspondence and spelling patterns. This hands-on approach is especially beneficial for students with dyslexia or other reading challenges, as it provides an alternative pathway for processing and retaining information. By combining physical movement with visual input, sand tray activities make abstract language concepts more concrete, which supports memory retention and builds phonemic awareness.\r\n\r\nHeadphones, on the other hand, offer students a focused auditory experience that supports individualized learning. Whether listening to modeled fluency, phonics exercises, or text-to-speech reading passages, headphones help students engage in auditory processing without external distractions. This tool is particularly effective in reinforcing decoding skills and improving reading fluency, as students can hear and mimic correct pronunciation and intonation. Together, sand trays and headphones contribute to a rich multisensory environment where students access literacy content through visual, auditory, and tactile modalities, resulting in improved engagement, comprehension, and confidence in their reading abilities.","fullyFundedDate":1737661482720,"projectUrl":"project/reading-and-writing-access-and-support/9027552/","projectTitle":"Reading and Writing Access and Support","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Channell","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp4998598_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1673317208407","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/mrs-channell-mhs"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_63828","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":722,"numTeachers":61,"percentFrplEligible":51,"percentAsian":4,"percentBlack":4,"percentWhite":70,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":12,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"7 - 12","studentTeacherRatio":"11.8:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"SUBURBAN","ncesMetroType":"SUBURB_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":66.7,"schoolId":63828,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Millbury Memorial Junior Senior High School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Millbury Memorial Junior Senior High School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/massachusetts/millbury-school-district/millbury-memorial-junior-senior-high-school/63828"}
