Because of your generosity, my 6th and 7th grade students now have access to tools that help them focus, regulate their energy, and stay engaged in their learning.\r\n\r\nWe began using the materials right away during our reading comprehension and math support blocks. Many of my students have difficulty staying focused for long periods of time, especially when they are working through challenging reading passages or math problems. The chair bands and seat cushions have been incredibly helpful because they allow students to move their feet or shift slightly while still staying seated and engaged in the lesson. I noticed that students were able to concentrate longer and needed fewer breaks during independent work time.\r\n\r\nWhen my students first saw the materials, they were very excited and curious about how they would work. After explaining that these tools were designed to help them stay focused and comfortable while learning, they were eager to try them. The noise-canceling headphones quickly became a favorite, especially for students who are easily distracted by noise. During reading and independent work time, students who used the headphones were able to block out distractions and concentrate more on their assignments.\r\n\r\nThe reading comprehension cards have also been a great addition to our small group instruction. We are using them to practice important skills such as identifying key details, answering questions about text, and strengthening overall comprehension.\r\n\r\nThe next steps for my students are to continue building their reading comprehension and math problem-solving skills while also learning strategies that help them manage focus and stay engaged in class. These tools are helping create a more supportive learning environment where students feel comfortable, confident, and ready to learn.\r\n\r\nThank you again for investing in my students and helping provide the resources they need to succeed.","fullyFundedDate":1768438590505,"projectUrl":"project/supporting-students-with-comforting-too/9759936/","projectTitle":"Supporting Students With Comforting Tools Needed for Success","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Aguilar","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-7_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10280093"},{"teacherId":7759866,"projectId":9846603,"letterContent":"Thank you for your incredible donation to our classroom.\r\n\r\nMy students enjoy seeing the bulletin board as they walk past our classroom, and are actively working on the reading project in order to see more of their work displayed on the board. Students noticed right away that the room felt more organized and ready to go. No one had to ask for a pencil. Papers had a place. We were able to start class without the usual scrambling. It may sound small, but that shift helped students settle in faster and stay focused longer. I could move straight into instruction instead of pausing to solve basic supply problems.\r\nWe've been using the binders and tables during small group work and writing assignments. Students are keeping track of their work better and finishing more of it. One day during a group activity, a few students who usually struggle to stay engaged stayed with the task the whole period. They had their materials, knew where to sit, and didn't feel lost. That consistency has helped me raise expectations and add more depth to our lessons because the foundation is finally there.\r\nNext, we're building on that momentum. I'm working on more structured projects where students can collaborate, write, and present their work. The goal is to keep pushing the rigor while maintaining the steady environment these materials helped create. It's made a real difference in how the classroom runs and in how students see themselves as learners.","fullyFundedDate":1746455218622,"projectUrl":"project/spreading-public-health-awareness/9108995/","projectTitle":"Spreading Public Health Awareness","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. Harr","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9879415_orig.png?crop=358,358,x42,y13&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1742413362190","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9879415"},{"teacherId":9879415,"projectId":9014085,"letterContent":"These materials have helped the classroom run in a way that feels more steady and predictable. We spend less time looking for pencils or organizing loose papers and more time actually getting into the lesson. That alone has made a difference. Students are turning in more complete work, and we've been able to raise the level of what we're asking them to do. I'm able to push them a little more because the basics are finally in place.\r\nOne moment that stuck with me happened during a small group activity. We used the new tables and projector to walk through an assignment together. Usually, that kind of lesson can fall apart quickly. This time, students stayed seated, had their materials, and worked through it step by step. A few who normally check out stayed with it the whole period. It wasn't dramatic. Just steady progress. But that's the kind of shift that matters here.\r\nFor me, the biggest impact has been the ability to focus more on teaching and less on putting out small fires. I'm looking forward to building more structured, rigorous lessons now that the room is organized and predictable. My goal is to keep raising expectations while still giving students the support they need to meet them. Students are required to drop everything and read for 15 minutes a day. Now that they have more options they do so without complaint. They worry that someone else will take their book before them so it's great that there are two of every book.\r\n\r\nSome of the favorites are Enders Game and The Hate U Give. The variety of authors and main characters fits our demographic and they can see themselves in the stories. They see that hispanic and black authors are just as talented and they look up to them.\r\n\r\nOur students have historically had low scores on reading assessments. I'm using the organizational supplies to clearly sort student work, lesson materials, and grade-level information for each class I teach. This has made transitions smoother and allowed me to spend more time working directly with students instead of managing materials. \r\n One meaningful moment was during a multi-grade lesson when students were able to quickly access their work folders and reference materials without confusion. The improved organization has helped lessons flow more efficiently and kept students focused and engaged.\r\n My students were genuinely excited and curious when they saw the new materials. Several commented on how \"organized\" the classroom looked and noticed how much easier it was to find their work. They took pride in having clearly labeled spaces for their assignments and materials, which helped them feel more responsible and confident in managing their learning.\r\n With these organizational systems in place, students are now moving into deeper, more independent work. The next steps include using their organized folders and reference materials to track progress on ongoing lessons and projects across grade levels. Because materials are easy to access and clearly structured, students can focus more on learning, reflection, and collaboration. With the materials that you have provided, we are showcasing all the reading that students are doing - and it is contagious! More and more teachers are also interested in showcasing their own reading by creating a \"Current/Recommended Reads\" poster for their door. \r\nWe have bulletin boards dedicated to reading. After students are done reading, they write a review and it is posted on the board. It is making students and teachers alike excited about reading (and we get a little writing in there too with the review)! I have also created a book reflection handout to help monitor that students are in fact reading; students keep a journal and after each independent reading period, they choose a prompt to reflect on what they read about. The selection of prompts allows the to choose something that fits both the book they are reading and how they are interacting with the text that day. \r\nThe line readers have made such a difference for some students. At first, I wasn't sure how many students would agree to use the line reader.
