It has become a special place where they can read independently, explore books, and enjoy quiet reading time. One of my favorite moments is seeing them work hard to complete their assignments because they are so excited to have the opportunity to spend time in the Reading Corner.\r\n\r\nWhen they first saw the new materials, they were very excited. Their smiles said everything! They immediately wanted to explore the space, look at the books, and take turns using our new reading area.\r\n\r\nOur next step is to continue helping my first graders become confident and independent readers. We are working on reading comprehension, learning new vocabulary, retelling stories, identifying important details, and increasing their reading stamina.\r\n\r\nThank you for helping us create a welcoming space that motivates my students to read, learn, and develop a love for books. Many immediately began exploring the different tools, and it was amazing to see how quickly they connected with items that helped them feel calm, focused, and ready to learn. Several students who typically struggle with attention, transitions, or self-regulation were able to participate more successfully in classroom activities and group discussions with the support of these materials.\r\n\r\nWe are currently using the sensory items throughout the school day during independent work, small-group instruction, sensory breaks, and emotional regulation activities. One especially meaningful moment was watching a student who often becomes overwhelmed during academic tasks use a calming sensory tool to regulate emotions and successfully complete an assignment independently. It was a huge confidence boost and showed just how important these resources are for supporting student success.\r\n\r\nMoving forward, students will continue learning how to appropriately use the sensory materials as part of our classroom routines and self-regulation strategies. The pillows, canopy, book stands, and books have helped us create a calm and welcoming corner where students can take a moment to breathe, read quietly, and practice self-regulation skills. This space has already become a special part of our classroom community.\r\nWhen my students first saw the new materials, they were amazed and very curious. They loved the cozy pillows and the canopy, and many of them immediately wanted to sit down and explore the books. Several students told me it felt like a \"peaceful reading place.\" It was wonderful to see their excitement and how quickly they understood that this corner is a safe space where they can calm their bodies and minds.\r\nMoving forward, we will continue using this area during our daily classroom routines to support social-emotional learning. Students will use this space to read, reflect, and practice calming strategies such as deep breathing and quiet thinking. These resources are helping my students develop important skills like self-control, emotional awareness, and independence.
