Over the course of the year, I have learned so much. I have read so much. And I am more excited about the kinds of relationships I want to have with my students (perhaps, more so than ever before).\r\n\r\nAs I imagine (and reimagine) what education can and should look like, I feel moved to create spaces where students can read literature together, engage in discourse, and reflect on their world.\r\n\r\n Two years ago, I piloted the AP African American Studies course at my school. Donations obtained through \"donors choose\" helped me acquire some of the books that I used to teach that class ... contributions which I will forever be thankful for. This year, I felt compelled to build a curriculum to supplement what I had already begun and further this work by creating learning spaces which extend beyond the school day. \r\nWith books now in hand, I am both eager and excited to get to work- to teach and to learn and hopefully, crate the kind of experiences my students need at this moment.
