Learning should not happen in a vacuum nor should it be confined to a single classroom. Although not in our existing curriculum, I think that the teaching of George Orwell's Animal Farm is not only timely but also, an incredible opportunity to create an interdisciplinary unit between the English and History classes. Currently, the entire 9th grade class is in a cluster which means that all students share the same core teachers. If this project is funded, teachers from both disciplines have agreed to meet regularly and take coursework to plan and develop a unit on Revolutions through the lens of George Orwell's Animal Farm.
