This is the first year our school has switched to using a binder system, and without the three hole punch and dividers purchased with your donation, there would be no way for me and my students to utilize our binders. We are learning all the time that organization is a skill that must be taught! Thank you for enabling us to do so.\r\n\r\nAdditionally, students have been shining creatively in their projects. We are using the chart paper from this project to create posters and anchor charts for students to demonstrate their learning. In the past, my students had to use just pencil for these sorts of activities, but now that you funded markers for my classroom, several artists have emerged in our class!\r\n\r\nMy incredibly talented students are blossoming thanks to your support.","fullyFundedDate":1756150160657,"projectUrl":"project/urban-esl-classroom-essentials/9542345/","projectTitle":"Urban ESL Classroom Essentials","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. D'Onfro","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-8_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8119755"},{"teacherId":10237693,"projectId":9674764,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for supporting our project, \"Essentials for the ESL Classroom.\" The snacks and classroom supplies are already making a meaningful difference in our daily routines. Having access to basic comforts helps create a welcoming and respectful learning environment where students feel safe, cared for, and ready to learn. We have been using the supplies during small-group language practice, reading workshops, and writing activities, and the snacks have been especially helpful in keeping students focused and energized during longer lessons. These resources allow us to spend more time engaged in meaningful English learning rather than worrying about unmet basic needs.\r\n\r\nWhen students first saw the new materials, they were incredibly excited and grateful. Many of them expressed surprise that people they had never met cared enough to support their learning. That moment sparked a beautiful classroom conversation about the power of community.\r\n\r\nAs we move forward, students are continuing to build their English skills through reading, discussion, and reflective writing connected to our current unit on identity, community, and belonging. They will use the donated supplies to support upcoming projects, including personal narrative writing, collaborative discussions, and presentations about their experiences and goals. Your generosity not only provides materials but also helps create a classroom where students feel valued, motivated, and empowered to grow in both language and confidence. The wobble stools have also become classroom favorites. Students appreciate being able to lean, move, and get the sensory input they need while still staying engaged. Both of these seating options allow students to channel their extra energy in productive ways, helping them remain focused on their work.\r\n\r\nOverall, these donations have made our classroom more collaborative, comfortable, and focused. I've been co-running and now running it on my own for three years, and beside the time commitment (an hour and half at least every week), the financial burden was becoming too much! Now, thanks to your kindness, we have been able to make sure every student has their own dice, dice mats (where they roll it so it doesn't go everywhere!), miniature figures (their character), maps, props, and resources that will certainly go well-beyond this school year. \r\n\r\nOur school is often a bit hectic during the day as we have a massive school with roughly 1,100 students, so clubs like this one allow our students to be themselves, be vulnerable with one another, and let their imaginations run wild! Though not necessary these extra resources really make the adventure come to life! When I brought the boxes in from DonorsChoose, you should have see their faces as they were wowed by the generosity and potential avenues we can take the adventure. One example, a student who recently joined a few weeks back wanted to tell their character's backstory and wanted to kind of lead the group through this portion of the adventure. With so many maps and figures to choose from, he was able to piece together the whole story, and I have a good feeling that he'll want to take the full reigns one day and perhaps become the Dungeon Master (the person who runs the campaign) next year! \r\n\r\nSo, thank you, thank you, thank you for making this a reality!
