The biggest moment was when they realized they no longer had to share a single meter stick with the entire class. Each student could finally take their own measurements at the same time, which made our outdoor science lessons so much smoother. The excitement of simply being able to spread out, work independently, and collect data without waiting turned the lesson into something they looked forward to.\r\n\r\nThe classroom set of clipboards has been just as impactful. Before, my students had to kneel on the ground or lean against the side of the building to write down their work. Now, with sturdy clipboards for everyone, they can record their observations quickly and neatly. This small change has saved time, reduced frustration, and helped them stay focused on the learning instead of the struggle of finding a place to write.\r\n\r\nThe stickers and small rewards have added another layer of encouragement. A simple sticker on a data sheet or a reward for staying on task has made my students feel proud and motivated. Teaching fifth graders means that each week, they sprout up like weeds. These desks give us the ability to adjust to their new heights. When we split the class up into group work- the desks glide on wheels!\r\n\r\nAnother unexpected bonus with the learning desks is that they have a smaller storage space. Less storage means less clutter. We are able to reinforce executive functioning skills and help the students learn organization and efficiency. \r\n\r\nAll of the students were clamoring for the new desks as they were slowly assembled and introduced into the classroom.
