My students will be learning about themselves, each other and our history and present. In learning about the ways communities have changed the world for the better, students can begin to understand their place in positive change. Literature that helps students understand different perspectives helps them learn to care about others as much as themselves. It is only through mutual understanding that our society can begin to move towards equality for all people. Literature that fosters a firm understanding of our history will help ensure that our future generations learn from the mistakes of the past to build something better. TIME for Kids helps students be aware or current events that are being debated in government and society and allow students to understand different positions and opinions and formulate their own.
