The students can follow along with the story, use the pictures for clues, and begin recognizing words and patterns without feeling overwhelmed.\r\n\r\nThe books have also helped make reading more enjoyable for my students. They are colorful, funny, and different from the more traditional materials we often use in class. I have noticed that students are more willing to participate, read aloud, and take risks with English when the material feels accessible and fun.\r\n\r\nMost importantly, having these books available gives my students more opportunities to experience success with reading. For SLIFE students, building confidence is just as important as building skills.
