Our students use these dictionaries daily for many reasons! They were so excited to have a dictionary for each group and to use it whenever they need it! We created space on the bookshelves and students help themselves to them any time they need them!\r\n\r\nOur curriculum has students complete word studies and vocabulary activities and the students love having access to the dictionaries to complete the tasks! They are learning and using research skills and sharpening alphabetizing skills. We are about to work on multi-meaning words with much of the activities dictionary related! Our MLL students are able to access new vocabulary and take time to learn definitions and parts of speech.\r\n\r\nOne of our students has adopted the dictionary and takes it to their desk and group meetings. It's a self regulation support for them and while they are listening and participating in whole group activities, they look through the dictionary as a form of self soothing and attention refocusing.
