One of my favorite moments so far was during a small-group phonics lesson when a student who usually struggles with decoding rolled a word pattern, read it confidently, and then turned it into a full sentence. The hands-on element has helped my students stay engaged and feel empowered while practicing essential reading and writing skills.\r\n\r\nHow did your students react when they first saw the materials?\r\n\r\nWhen I opened the box, the kids literally cheered. They were so excited to see the colorful dice, mats, and tools. Several students immediately asked, \"Do we get to use these today?!\" It felt like Christmas morning in our classroom. Their excitement made it clear how meaningful these materials are for them.\r\n\r\nNext steps for our current classroom lessons or projects\r\n\r\nRight now, we're working on strengthening decoding, fluency in math, and writing stamina. These new tools will help us continue building those foundational skills in a fun, structured way. Our next step is to use the roll-based writing prompts to create short stories and practice editing and revising. My students are eager to take their reading and writing a little further each day, and these resources will support them as they grow in confidence.","fullyFundedDate":1760741640298,"projectUrl":"project/lets-roll-write-and-shine-in-math/9806085/","projectTitle":"Let’s Roll, Write, and Shine in Math!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Brown","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-1_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10279501"},{"teacherId":4568133,"projectId":8638902,"letterContent":"My students have been having a tremendous school year! We can't thank you enough for the donations that have helped address many skills during OT sessions!\r\n\r\nThe Teachers Pay Teachers gift card is the gift that keeps on giving. It has been used for numerous parental resources, at-home activities to carry over skills, and weekly worksheets on themes with school-wide curriculums and current seasons. \r\n\r\nThe Light Box has been a fan favorite of many students. They have been practicing prewriting strokes, letter formation, first and last names, and drawing pictures of people! We have used various tools to draw in sand, including our fingers, paint brushes, Q-tips, and toothbrushes. The change in lighting has been a great feature that the kids have enjoyed. Foil Fun has been a great fine motor activity for my kindergarten and first graders. They loved creating scenes with the stickers and foil using their imaginations and creating stories from the materials. \r\n\r\nAgain, these donations have been useful and fun for my students this school year, and we have YOU to thank!","fullyFundedDate":1724881526998,"projectUrl":"project/occupational-therapy-helps-us-grow/8638902/","projectTitle":"Occupational Therapy Helps Us Grow!","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Crowther","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp4568133_orig.jpg?crop=480,480,x0,y33&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1630275539908","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/4568133"},{"teacherId":9841972,"projectId":8952044,"letterContent":"Thank you again for your support in funding my project, \"Meeting Unique Sensory Needs.\" With the funds you so generously provided, my students now have sensory items and activities that are helping them stay focused, organized, and regulate their sensory needs. Thank you again for making a difference in my classroom!\r\n\r\nEach day in my classroom presents with unique opportunities to help my students navigate their emotions, and at times, sensory overload. Working with students with Autism Spectrum Disorder can be both rewarding and challenging, especially when the students are non-verbal. The items purchased through this project provide them with additional options for sensory input, helping to regulate their systems when they are overstimulated, and provide them with much loved sensory play.\r\n\r\nMy students, staff and I thank you again for helping to fully fund this project. The students are absolutely obsessed with the building toys—whether working independently or collaborating with peers, they're fully engaged in creating, problem-solving, and letting their imaginations run wild. These materials have brought new energy to our early finisher time, turning it into a space where students of all abilities can thrive and explore their creativity in meaningful ways.\r\n\r\nOne especially powerful moment came with a student who had been having a tough time feeling safe and comfortable in our classroom. The magnetic building sticks became a turning point for them. We began building together, laughing and connecting through play, and it completely shifted their attitude toward coming into the room. It's created a safer, more welcoming space not only for this student but for all of us. These materials have also been incredibly impactful for students in our ABA program, helping foster a more inclusive and supportive environment where every child feels valued.
