First, the new cases helped replace some of the older, damaged ones, ensuring that our school-owned instruments are protected and can be used for many more years to come. Second, the bows were used for our cello students. We had several students show interest in learning the cello, but all of our older cello bows were worn out or broken. With your support, I was able to purchase and replace some of the bows for those students. Even in middle school, I am always being asked for Band-Aids! For the past three years, the library has been closed because the school did not have a librarian. When I began in May, I spent the remainder of the 25-26 school year organizing, bringing in new books, and developing programs to draw students into the library. Thanks to your generous donations, I was able to complete preparations in time for this school year. The library program has officially launched!\r\n\r\nOur students are thrilled with the new library. The scanner and library due date cards have simplified checkouts, and I have already repaired over a dozen books with the repair kit and tape materials. Additionally, the cart has allowed me to reshelve books much more efficiently, allowing more time for lesson development and student support. The bookmarks are laid out for students to take as needed when checking out books, and some will be available for a bookmark design art contest later this year. \r\n\r\nNow that the students are comfortable with the library and familiar with the checkout process, I anticipate a new record high for annual circulation at SDMS. Thank you for helping me share the magic of reading with my students. Not only will it help them across all subjects as they develop literacy skills, but it boosts their imagination, empathy, and the development of their identities.
