The graphic novel format also provides my multilingual learners with visual support as they develop their reading skills. The illustrations give students additional context and help make the story more accessible while still allowing them to engage with meaningful and challenging ideas.\r\n\r\nYour generosity will allow my students to read the same book together, discuss the characters and themes, and share their own connections to the story. These books will give my students opportunities to make connections, learn about the world around them, and discover stories that inspire them to become lifelong readers.\r\n\r\nThese specific books were chosen based on my students' literacy needs and interests. I also included some books that may be more challenging for my multilingual learners. However, the graphic novel format provides visual support that makes these stories more accessible to students. \r\n\r\nYour generosity is providing my students the opportunity to explore books that may have felt out of reach before. With this novel, we will be able to turn our reading time into a book club where students can share their ideas and learn from one another while discussing the same book.\r\n\r\nThis graphic novel was intentionally chosen because of the way it combines visuals with the text. This gives multilingual learners different entry points into the text. The illustrations can help students understand the story and fill in gaps when they encounter unfamiliar vocabulary or challenging language. The novel will also give us an opportunity to introduce and review literary devices such as similes, metaphors, personification, and onomatopoeia. We will also use \"The Crossover\" as a mentor text to explore different types of poetry and inspire students to write their own poems.\r\n\r\nYour generosity is helping make reading more accessible, engaging, and meaningful for our students.
