My level 3 Spanish students will study a unit on important cultural sites related to ancient civilizations in Latin America. After learning about some famous myths and legends, as well as the origins and importance of these cultural sites, students will be asked to act as tour guides and create a virtual tour to a selected location. This activity will allow students to incorporate vocabulary they are learning in the unit along with key grammatical concepts to produce an original presentation while communicating in Spanish. Using Google Cardboard viewers will help transport students on a cultural adventure and give them a new and exciting way to use their language skills. Beyond simply looking at picture or video footage, students will be able to truly experience these sites as if traveling to a Spanish-speaking country. This project is just the start of the amazing virtual trips my students can embark on as they expand their language proficiency and cultural understanding.
