The high-interest books provide opportunities for students to engage with reading in a way that feels exciting and accessible, while the sensory materials give students hands-on tools to help their bodies and minds feel calm and ready to learn. \r\n\r\nMost importantly, these gifts allow our classroom to be a place students can come when they are dysregulated and need a safe space to regulate and reset. They also allow us to be proactive, not simply waiting until a student is overwhelmed, but building movement, sensory breaks, calming strategies, and positive regulation opportunities into the school day. Whether a student needs to jump on the trampoline, squeeze a calming ball, enjoy a snack, read a favorite book, or simply take a quiet break, these resources help us meet students where they are.
