It is so beautiful, colorful and engaging for my students. Whenever someone walks into my room who hasn't seen the carpet before, they always remark on how great it looks. Everyone loves the alphabet letters and pictures that go with it! Additionally, I am using it to help teach my kindergarten and 1st grade students the sounds the letters make. They find the first letter in their names, step on different squares to spell new words, and we play sound games where I say a sound and they find the square that makes that sound. I love how interactive this carpet is!\r\n\r\nThis carpet has made my classroom not only look beautiful with its blue colors but it's become the centerpiece of our space. It's comfortable-students enjoy working on the carpet when given the choice and the squares with each letter on it help us to stay in our own carpet spot. It truly is the best part of my classroom design. I take a great deal of pride in our room and I will be sure we take great care of our carpet. These new resources are already making our lessons more interactive and engaging!\r\n\r\nMy students were so excited when they first saw the materials! They were especially thrilled to have their own whiteboards and markers. We recently used the whiteboards during a lesson to practice new skills, and each student was able to write an answer, hold it up, and share their thinking. The pocket chart has also become a wonderful tool for organizing our new \"tricky words\"!\r\n\r\nThese materials are helping our students participate more confidently and make learning more hands-on and fun.\r\n\r\nThank you for giving our students these wonderful tools! Students use them daily during guided reading and independent practice to build their reading fluency and confidence. One special moment that stood out was during partner reading time: I watched a normally shy student light up as she reread a passage into her fluency phone and realized she could hear her voice becoming smoother and more expressive each time. The simple amplification helps students clearly hear their own pacing, expression, and accuracy, making self-correction both immediate and empowering.\r\n\r\nWhen the fluency phones first arrived, the excitement was contagious! Students were amazed that such a simple tool could make their voices sound so clear and strong. They couldn't wait to try them, and our classroom buzzed with focused energy as everyone eagerly practiced. What I love most is how these tools have made repeated reading feel special instead of repetitive—students now ask if they can \"read it again\" to improve their fluency.\r\n\r\nAs we move forward, students will be using the fluency phones to prepare for a Reader's Theater performance. They are practicing scripts, focusing on expression, pacing, and character voices. The goal is not only to strengthen fluency skills but also to build confidence in public speaking. Because of our donors' generosity, my students are developing stronger reading skills and discovering pride in their own voices.","fullyFundedDate":1746653880826,"projectUrl":"project/reading-phones-for-fluency/9199572/","projectTitle":"Reading Phones for Fluency","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Bainbridge","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9226111_orig.png?crop=512,512,x0,y128&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1693701817191","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9226111"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_54802","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":463,"numTeachers":48,"percentFrplEligible":87,"percentAsian":5,"percentBlack":27,"percentWhite":5,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":57,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","percentHawaiianImputed":0,"percentMultiracialImputed":2,"gradesServed":"Pre-K - 5","studentTeacherRatio":"9.6:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"SUBURBAN","ncesMetroType":"SUBURB_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":70.3,"schoolId":54802,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Captain James E Daly Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Captain James E Daly Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/maryland/montgomery-county-public-schools/captain-james-e-daly-elementary-school/54802"}
