Now more than ever, students need access to diverse literature. Oftentimes students don't see themselves reflected in books, and we are aiming to change that. Our students will hear these multicultural and empowering texts as read-alouds, and we will use them as jumping off points for rich class discussions. By donating to our project, you will be allowing our students an opportunity to expand their view of the world. You will not only be helping to put quality, diverse books in the hands of one class of first graders, but you will actually be doing that for the entire grade level. If they don't have the opportunity to explore other viewpoints and perspectives, how are they meant to understand each other and others in the world around them?
