I am in a Title 1 school in a rural area, and while all students receive free meals, the appetites of teenagers vary and often the meals they get are not enough to sustain them throughout an entire morning of learning. Having snacks in my room to provide them when they are hungry allows them to better focus on their learning and not be distracted by their hunger. Additionally, students return to my classroom after their schedules have changed to check in with me, get a snack, and say hi.
