My students have made incredible progress this year in reading and math. This success was directly supported by the resources funded through my DonorsChoose project and your generous contributions.\r\n\r\nOn i-Ready, every student on my caseload either showed growth or met their typical growth targets in both subjects. A few even exceeded expectations, advancing by one to two grade levels. This demonstrates what students can achieve with the right tools.\r\n\r\nIn reading, three of my fifth-grade students made significant strides in phonics, building a stronger foundation for fluency and comprehension. One of the most inspiring outcomes came from my student who is deaf. With the resources provided, she has learned many new sight words and continues to show consistent growth.\r\n\r\nAlthough some resources came later than expected, I am excited to use them when school resumes to reinforce and review those concepts in a hands-on, meaningful way.\r\n\r\nYour donations provide supplies, created real opportunities for growth, confidence, and connection. So many of my students love reading the Pigeon Series books as well as the Piggie and Gerald books. Those books help the students use ration and decide if the characters are expressing their emotions in a healthy way (especially Pigeon when he doesn't get his way!) The books also allow my students to read together and bond with each other. My students also love the nonfiction books! I often use them in class to answer questions or to begin a lesson. The students also enjoy reading the informational texts and exploring topics that interest them.
