This book club began in December for 5th Grade Boys to encourage independent reading and increasing student connectedness during virtual learning. This book club was started using my funds, and I was hoping they would be at least interested enough to try and read the book on time. I have been blown away by their responses. The boys are engaged, participating in discussions, asking questions, and willing to read aloud. They are interested in and excited about coming to the book club. My heart is full that they are enjoying this experience. I hope to continue this book club by reading the next book in the series. I am not sure if we will finish the second book by the end of the school year, but I want to get them started on the second book to read it independently over the summer. The graphic novel would be a supplement to the book and a gift for their participation.
