When the instruments came all I could think was the people on our floor was going to be sick of hearing them - lol. The students were so excited to sample all the various musical instruments. They were super excited because this year we did not have instrumental music as a resource; so to be able to give them the opportunity inside the classroom was an additional bonus.\r\n\r\nOne of the way we used to musical instruments was to march around the room singing songs to check out student collaborative work samplings during math. We also created a class band and went into the office just to spread a little love and joy for 30 seconds. Everyone wanted to select the chairs as their earned reward. They became so popular I had to decrease the amount of time students could sit in them to ensure that everyone had an opportunity. \r\n\r\nSeating was used as a classroom reward that boosts student motivation by granting autonomy and catering to diverse learning needs. They all wanted a turn to hold, hug and rub him. After this it was explain to them that Mr. Sloth was here to help them when they were feeling sad, mad, overwhelmed, or just needed a time out. Mr. Sloth became not only our classroom friend, but also a friend to any student on our floor who just needed a little time out. \r\n\r\nThe resources we received from Donor choose allow me to set up a feelings station where students could set a timer and then use various tools to help them de-escalate and regulate their emotions.
