These include gathering and organizing evidence from texts in their notes, practicing specialized note-taking such as Cornell Notes, and using abbreviations and symbols to speed up note-taking. Students can also more easily observe what teachers call a think-aloud as I model the struggle to write and revise.\r\n\r\nThe camera also makes it easy to feature students' own writing. There have been some great moments when I turned the camera over to students to show their work to their classmates. It's so much easier than trying to plug and unplug devices. \r\n\r\nLastly, having an efficient printer in the classroom speeds up my work. This project will give them a space to slow down, be creative, and think about what this moment means for them.\r\n\r\nI know my students will be excited when they see everything laid out for the first time. Many of them have never used a Cricut machine or had access to supplies like vinyl, rhinestones, and markers. I can already picture them gathering around the table, sharing ideas, and helping one another figure out what they want their designs to look like. Moments like this help build a strong sense of community in the room.\r\n\r\nOur next steps will be to sketch designs, try different materials, and learn how to use the Cricut to bring their ideas to life. Your donation gave our students the tools to explore new skills and collaborate in ways they never could before. Next, we're planning to combine sewing and 3D printing in a project where students create wearable tech accessories, building on what they've learned so far.
