They have begun exploring the world by finding new places on the globe and reading about them in books. They use the multicultural people to create families and classrooms with kids and adults from all over the world. The stronger the foundation, the stronger the structure, and the same is true in education. \r\n\r\nWe were able to use the construction dress up materials to create a phonics construction zone. The students used blocks to build word sky scrapers. We used Legos to build 3 letter words. The students built bridges that could hold block letters for specific phonics sounds. We were learning, but we were having so much fun doing it! We did many similar classroom transformations with the other materials as well. We had a jungle safari with our safari hats and had to solve the math problems to stay safe from the jungle animals. We wore aprons to create a menu and serve well balanced meals for health lesson that incorporated literacy and math skills. Now these advanced second graders are ready to focus on their own creative writing. We will also review the requirements of a good sentence, including proper grammar and punctuation.
