In the early years of our program, we were fortunate to be able to be included on a subscription to Gizmos (Explore Learning) with a partner school. However, as our program blossomed and we eventually earned independent school status, the subscription expired and our budget left us unable to renew. \r\n\r\nYour donation of Gizmos (Explore Learning) has provided access to hundreds of science and math simulations and virtual experiments over this next school year. The students have the opportunity to investigate real-world scenarios and model the activities that they would otherwise conduct in the lab or in the field. Our students love being able to manipulate the technology and will even go beyond the required tasks to expand their learning. \r\n\r\nOne group of students that have experienced great success with this program is our special education students. While these students may struggle with grade-level reading and math skills, they have been able to alternatively demonstrate their learning through the Gizmos program. Thank you again for providing this opportunity for all of our students!","fullyFundedDate":1747003637799,"projectUrl":"project/engaging-with-gizmos/9337856/","projectTitle":"Engaging with Gizmos","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Anderson","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp6606989_orig.jpg?crop=1433,1433,x0,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1565276496684","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/6606989"},{"teacherId":6606989,"projectId":9291085,"letterContent":"In the virtual environment, we sometimes have to be creative or a bit flexible in how we recognize our students. At my school, teachers can teach from any state so many of us are not local to our students. When I decided to become the adviser of the National Honor Society for my school, I knew it would present a challenge to gather with students and also provide them with honors and recognition, seeing as I live several states away. My students have been asking for certificates to recognize their membership for some time. I had started to work on digital certificates, but they really wanted a physical copy to keep. As a virtual school, we don't have the budget or manpower that in-person schools often have, and I was unsure if I would be able to pull off getting physical copies of their certificates without being present to assist with the undertaking. With the funding of this project, I could now afford to personally print and mail each student a certificate of membership in the National Honor Society. Students were overjoyed to learn they would receive this! Several students verified their mailing address with me the same day the project was announced. I am so glad that this small act was able to bring them a lasting memory of their virtual education and recognition of their accomplishments!","fullyFundedDate":1746318151722,"projectUrl":"project/physical-recognition-for-virtual-student/9291085/","projectTitle":"Physical Recognition for Virtual Students","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Anderson","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp6606989_orig.jpg?crop=1433,1433,x0,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1565276496684","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/6606989"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_133776","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":515,"numTeachers":null,"percentFrplEligible":73,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":71,"percentWhite":7,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":18,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"5 - 12","studentTeacherRatio":null,"demographicsDataSource":"MDR District Record","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":null},"inStateSupporters":0.0,"schoolId":133776,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Baltimore Revolutionary Academy for Virtual Education on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Baltimore Revolutionary Academy for Virtual Education","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/maryland/baltimore-city-public-school-district/baltimore-revolutionary-academy-for-virtual-education/133776"}
