When students learn virtually, they often lose a lot of the resources that a school provides such as STEM equipment. Being able to provide the virtual students with a 3D printer will allow them to send in designs that can be sent to them after printing. Students can still get experience with 3D printing design and then be sent their final designs. This will open up their minds to the creativity and innovation that 3D printing can bring. My virtual students are in a Project-Based Learning school. The ability to access a 3D printer opens the possibilities for them when focusing on the projects that will help their community, give them real-world experience, and open their minds to inquired learning. Being able to take an idea and bring it to life is rewarding for students and opens up their avenues to what can be accomplished through science.
