It is a place where students feel safe, supported, and seen. It is where they learn how to care for their mental health, manage stress, build resilience, and ask for help when they need it. It is where they begin to understand that their well-being matters.\r\nWe started with a very small space in a corner hallway in the counseling suite which only accommodated 4 students at most. We saw the need to have a space where students can go when they need a break from class or a quiet space to complete schoolwork away from distractions. Due to your generous donations, we were able to convert a classroom to the \"Zen Den\" which is open to all students. During our lunchtime and student breaks, we now accommodate up to 45 students in one sitting. \r\nAlready, the impact is clear:\r\n•\tStudents are accessing support earlier. Staff have reported a significant increase in students seeking support and getting to know students who otherwise would go un-noticed.\r\n•\tA calm, restorative environment now exists in the building. Students use the Zen Den for mindfulness, emotional regulation, and self-care—tools that are transforming their daily experience. Student Support Staff now have a space to hold educational, support and mental health groups to aide in student wellness.\r\n•\tTeachers are noticing a difference. Many have shared that students return to class more focused, grounded, and ready to learn.\r\n•\tFamilies feel reassured. Parents know their children have a dedicated space staffed by social workers, counselors and psychologists, where they can relax away from noisy common areas that can be too overstimulating for our neurodivergent students. \r\nWe use the supplies purchased daily in the Zen Den. Students get comfortable on the bean bags and enjoy the ambiance that the lighting fixtures create. They don't feel like they're in the classroom but a place where they relax, socialize, play a game of Uno and practice life skills.\r\nOn behalf of our students, staff, and families, thank you for believing in this vision and helping bring it to life.","fullyFundedDate":1757300649162,"projectUrl":"project/new-wellness-center-at-n-c-high-school/9618771/","projectTitle":"New Wellness Center at N.
