From morning homeroom to extra class time there are many opportunities for the students to enjoy the games. I'm thrilled the students are having so much fun, and it's even better because they're gaining skills and not even realizing it! They are thinking and strategizing in new ways, building confidence, and gaining interpersonal skills.\r\n\r\nMany aspects of learning to read are practiced through the games you gave. Students are reading through the directions and game cards to play correctly and fairly, following the directions, putting order into moves, coming up with strategies, and learning new words. Their academic skills are growing as well as their social skills. \r\n\r\nThey are having fun and learning! What could be better? The future is bright for these students! Our classroom goals are very different from sewing, to cooking, to babysitting, and more. It often gets difficult to track where to find the supplies we need, but the students have had a much easier time being independent of where to find the supplies.\r\n\r\nWhen we first got our materials students were starting to see the vision. The fact that they could get what they needed without having to search, rummage, and ask. As things started getting put together and organized they were able to easily access their tools. For instance we started cooking last week and students could quickly read the labels on the boxes and cabinets (from the help of our laminators and boxes) to find their tools and cleaning supplies.\r\n\r\nNext steps for my students are to take more of a role in organizing things effectively and learning how to do that.
