There have been many studies supporting the fact that middle school students need movement and breaks in order to learn at their highest potential. By offering flexible seating my students will be able to adjust seats to find the option that helps them focus and learn. As a humanities classroom my students will be expected to regularly participate in Socratic Seminars, debates, simulations, and book studies as well a be prepared to write well organized document based essays. In addition to the need for flexible seating my students will need to be able to work on the move. By providing a clip board for each student (and storage) they will be able to move about the room while still learning and not be tied to a desk to take notes.
