We are a group of voracious readers and having a variety of texts to choose from makes our appetite for reading all the more immense.\r\n\r\nWe are beginning our latest reading unit and your donation will be playing a big role as we delve into the world of parts of a story, characters and language. Please know that your support is allowing these students to learn no matter their language or level. With these books my students will learn about making inferences, visualization and imagination.\r\nWith your help, I was able to get these books so that students with limited language will be able to use them to help tell a story and learn the same ideas as their peers. This success is what will encourage them to push themselves farther and to explore new ideas.\r\n\r\nWithout your help, this vast selection of resources would not have been possible. Your commitment to funding projects like this is what allows me to enhance my teaching and the students' exposure to innovative and exciting ideas, people, and provides them a window into the world through stories.\r\n\r\nThis project is such a wonderful way to showcase high-quality storybooks by authors that students (and myself) may or may not be familiar with. All of the items have been heavily used for the past few months and will continue to be used frequently.\r\n\r\nMy students were extremely excited when they saw the huge box of Magnatiles! They love using these on Fridays when they have choice time. My students have also enjoyed the materials we use daily like the pointers, handwriting stamp, timer, and bingo chips. \r\n\r\nIn my classroom, I have been focusing on building foundational phonemic awareness skills with my ML students. The bingo chips are a wonderful tool to count sounds and then to encode the word after. Some of my newcomer students have been using the handwriting stamp to practice correct letter formation. I use the timer with all of my small groups and the students like it because it's a great visual with the rainbow to know how much remaining time they have and the ding when group time is over. Both my students and I use the pointers on our ClearTouch board and when we are pointing to things and with word games on the easel. I have given students the stickers for messages that they need at certain times (ex. Be You, Not Them). \r\n\r\nI appreciate you and donors like yourself who support public schools and educators.
