My students come from many different walks of life, including family background, socioeconomic status, language, religion, educational backgrounds. The students are dynamic, interesting, and eager to learn. The community is very supportive of our district, its schools, and the students. My school's population is 41% Title 1A and 69% free and reduced lunch. This can pose a challenge in the classroom each day. With approximately half of my students requiring reading services, it is imperative that I provide as many times as I can throughout the day dedicated to reading. I love books, and I want my students to get excited about books and reading as well! My goal is for my students to become better readers through a deeper understanding of the texts by questioning, visualizing, connecting, thinking aloud, and more.
