I wrote this letter months ago and just realized I never submitted it, so please accept my sincerest apologies. I've edited it to include new things, speaking about my students this year as well as last year.\r\n\r\nMy students LOVED the flexible seating last year. The wiggle stools were used at my back table every time we had reading/spelling groups. It was a game changer for getting my ADHD students to focus long enough to complete a group rotation. The scoop chairs were also incredible. My students last year used them all the time— full group math lessons, reading lessons, and writing lessons, as well as all kinds of independent work time. It's amazing how wiggling back and forth in a scoop chair can help my students focus on the task at hand in a way that sitting criss-cross on the carpet does not. My new students this year also love the flexible seating. They keep remarking that they 'got into the best third grade class' because of the seating options and the flexibility we have within our room. \r\n\r\nI haven't broken out the yoga ball yet this year (we still need to go over expectations before we do), but last year all my students got to take turns on the yoga ball. Each day, we would rotate to a new student so that they all got the chance to sit in it throughout the school year. My new students are anxious to get the chance to try out the yoga ball this year. \r\n\r\nBoth groups of students, upon seeing the seating for the first time, were so incredibly excited about the opportunity to get to use this new seating. The smiles on their faces and the joy that radiates from them every day when they use a wiggle stool or a scoop chair are immeasurable. I believe all learning should be accessible for students, and this gives all of them the tools to get out their wiggles while they are actively listening.
