Thanks to you, we were able to pack up our classroom and take it outside under the trees! \r\n\r\nWe cannot wait to use our new wagon on our trip to the Children's Museum in a few weeks too! This school year has been a little crazy in my classroom. The social-emotional books, coloring books and giant box of crayons arrived and have been in use. Your donation to Operation Calculator has had a real impact on 53 students in Louisiana. We have been busy all fall learning about linear equations, exponents, graphs, solving one variable equations, linear systems, and systems of inequalities. \r\n\r\nMy students have worked so hard and that work has been eased by you and your donation. I've been very proud of how far many of them have come as mathematicians and the calculators are truly a game changing support for many with unfinished learning from earlier grades, COVID, etc. \r\n\r\nI've seen my students grow so much this year in confidence and fearlessness in the face of challenging problems. Students who have shared their struggles with math for years tell me \"I got this!\" \r\n\r\nI particularly think about Mckenzie. Mckenzie told me at the beginning of the year that she's not good at math. That she couldn't do this work and she struggled in other math classes, but these days she's the first to raise her hand, she always has her homework done, and she has blown me away on every quiz, exit ticket, benchmark, and in class discussion with how deeply she understands the new things we are studying. She is one who doesn't do calculations instantly in her head, but she knows how to get the calculator to support her in solving a problem. \r\n\r\nAdditionally, I think about Jamari. He is shy and quiet, but he's consistently improved and now helps his peers daily during group work time. He's become a leader and I saw him this week showing other students how to put a new concept in the calculator! \r\n\r\nThank you again for your gift.
