In our Physical Education classes, our students learn sport and movement skills that will help them participate in life-long physical activities, whether they are striving to be athletes in their future endeavors or if they just want to interact with others in a fun environment to stay healthy. Our goal is to provide them with that opportunity to participate and learn in a safe environment with their peers. Following Hurricane Ida, the gymnasium that our school uses was damaged and is in need of repair, so we need to build a new safe play space for our students as they continue learning and growing during a very complex and traumatic period of their lives.. Having these materials (basketball goals and tetherball poles) provide opportunities for our students to continue to build and improve on their sports skills, as well as their social emotional skills.
