My second graders were so excited when the generous donations began to arrive. We unboxed the items together and discussed how they would be used for brain breaks, calming and regulating, and general stress relief! The weighted axolotyl has quickly become a favorite! The noise machine is utilized daily! If I forget to turn it on each morning, the students never fail to ask for it! We love that it has different calming sounds to help us focus without being a distraction! Now let's talk about the fish tank! While it's not feasible to have live fish in our classroom, these pretend fish are so much fun! Sometimes we just turn off the lights and watch them as we reset our day. The fidget bands on our chairs have helped us with the wiggles....especially on those days when we are unable to go outside. Finally, we used some of the stress balls during our winter diagnostic testing to help with test anxiety. I cannot thank you enough for investing in the mental health of my students!
